Baldpate Inn

The Baldpate Inn was founded in 1917 by Anglo-American brothers Charles and Gordon Mace, and their families. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Wlodarski's state that the hotel is haunted by the apparition of Ethel Mace, as her ghost has been seen in her old room sat in a rocking chair reading a bible.

Something unseen has been held responsible for some guests spilling their drinks and others being unable to keep a cigarette lit, whereas other have had theirs go missing! This has been attributed to Ethel who disliked drinking, and Gordon Mace who frowned upon smoking.

Stanley Hotel

The 142-room Colonial Revival Stanley Hotel is a well-renowned hotel, for both its architecture and its inspiration for Stephen King's novel, The Shining. It was opened in 1909, under the ownership of Freelan Oscar Stanley. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It has gained a reputation for being haunted, hardly surprising when you consider that it featured prominently in a book from one of the greatest horror authors. Apparitions include that of its builder, F.O. Stanley, and a dutiful female housekeeper.

Audible phenomena include the sounds of piano music, a party coming from empty the empty hall or ballroom, and the sounds of children running through corridors.
